The Wakefield Parent Partnership (WPP) is comprised of a group of dedicated parents from all different professions in and around Wakefield, MA, who love to connect with others and provide high-quality educational opportunities that inspire parents, teachers, professionals, and the public, to keep learning.
Under the leadership of Anne Danehy, who is currently the chair of the Wakefield School Committee, the WPP ran a lecture series 3 times a year from 2008-2012. Supported primarily by funds from the Wakefield School District PTO's and ticket sales, the WPP brought in a marvelous group of speakers who presented on a variety of topics including social anxiety and building resilience in children, bullying, the early sexualization of children, attention deficit with hyperactivity (ADHD), and psychopharmacology.
In 2013, under the direction of Sarah Roehrich, chair, and Lisa Butler, treasurer, we hope to establish a core group of people who are willing to help us to put on at least 2 high-quality lectures, one coming up on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 7 pm, with Dr. Tina Payne Bryson, and one in the winter or spring (TBD). We would also love to continue this lecture series into the future, providing 2-3 lectures per year on topics that are of interest to parents, the school community, professionals, and the general public. However, to do this, we need your help. These lectures are expensive to run and need a core group of volunteers to make them successful. So, please consider joining us. We welcome your ideas, input, questions, and help in any form you can provide. If you are interested in attending our meetings, volunteering, and/or helping us to put on or run our lectures, please email us at WakefieldPP@gmail.com.
Thank you very much,
Chair, Wakefield Parent Partnership
